The Chamber is Seeking Sponsors for 15th Annual Educator Appreciation Mixer

The original concept began when the Chamber of Commerce learned in exit interviews that many teachers leaving Lake Havasu City felt they were part of the school’s community, but they didn’t feel part of the rest of the community, including the business community. The Chamber decided to do something about it. Now, 15 years later, another Education Appreciation Mixer is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 27, and we’re asking businesses to “Fill the Tote Kit” with items new teachers can use in the classroom in 2015-2016. A variety of sponsorships are available:

• Event Sponsor – $1,250 includes member promotion plus admission for 8

• Display Sponsor – $275 reserves space for member display of products/marketing plus admission for 3

• Table Sponsor – $250 member hosts a table for 10 teachers

• Banner Sponsor – $125 display of member’s banner

• Teacher Sponsor – $25 admits one teacher plus one member representative

• or General admission for this celebration is $10 per person

“We’re asking for items to fill the tool kits – last year a couple of cases of Kleenex were donated. Eight cases of paper will provide a ream of paper for each kit,” Kathy Tippett, Director of Administration and Technology said. “We can use 75 packages of markers or other items.” Sponsors may attach cards and flyers to their donated items. Tool kits are for new teachers only and are delivered if they are unable to attend. The Educator Mixer is open to educators in any of the schools in the city – public, charter or church-sponsored. Some teachers have been coming back year after year because of its popularity. The time: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with the location to be announced soon. Chamber members who wish to be a sponsor for the event may contact Kathy Tippett: phone 855.4115 or e-mail:
